Supervisors, managers, directors, vice presidents, even the CEO, these are the individuals “appointed” by the people in charge to lead the others.
But are these “appointed” people the real leaders, the BRILLIANT Leaders? Do others willingly follow them because they are respected, and their wisdom is valued? Or do they follow because they are the "somebody" with a title a higher up put in charge?

They may or may not be the “appointed” leader (lucky for us if they are) but they are the person who is naturally looked to for guidance, direction, and most often their approval. These real leaders, the brilliant leaders are known for their integrity and sense of fair play. They willingly share their knowledge and experience and are cheering the loudest when one of their people wins.
Real, brilliant leaders accept the responsibility for being a leader and they recognize the fact that their behaviors, their communications, the way they respond to situations, and the way they treat people is emulated by those around them.
They also know that their influence can and will have a serious impact how their followers move forward in the world…and they accept 100% responsibility with gratitude and humility.

They understand that to be a leader they must have effective communication skills.
They know when being quiet is important.
Real, brilliant leaders live their lives as a role model everyday.
They recognize the benefits of being poised under pressure.
Real, brilliant leaders understand the importance of being authentic and being real.
And most critical to their success, they’ve learned to tell the truth even when it hurts their image.
So my question to you is, ‘What type of leader are you?’ Are you the one your followers respect, look up to, and aspire to be? Or, are you just the appointed head of a group of people who have no choice but to follow?
